Your First Visit

The first office visit typically lasts about an hour so please plan accordingly. There are many steps taken to ensure the proper diagnosis and treatment for each individual. Please wear something you can comfortably move in and don't mind getting lotion on.

Medical History

During the history, a number of questions will be asked to determine the root cause of your problem. By listening to the patient describe the initial onset of pain, his/her symptoms and what aggravates or helps them, the proper diagnosis can be attained.

Physical Examination

The physical examination consists of checking joint range of motion, performing orthopedic tests and testing nerve function. The findings from the physical examination are used to confirm the diagnosis. The findings can also be used to indicate if there is a more serious underlying condition.

Chiropractic Examination

Using her hands, Dr. Oswald will feel the joints and the muscles of the body to see which areas are causing problems. She will check for restriction or lack of mobility in the joints and tightness and spasm in the muscles. From those findings, she will determine where to focus her treatments.

Chiropractic Treatment

Treatments consist of many different components. Traditionally, they include chiropractic adjustments and soft tissue (muscle) therapy. Depending on the diagnosis and patient, other therapies can also be utilized. You can find a complete list with descriptions under the "Services Provided" tab.

At-Home Care

Every patient will receive some form of at-home care. This helps reduce the amount of discomfort you have between visits and accelerate your healing. Normally at home care consists of stretches, exercises, icing/heating and activity modifications.
